Sedgwick County starting volunteer program for COVID-19 information

The Sedgwick County Health Department is starting a volunteer program to help get information out in the community on the COVID-19 vaccine.

The COVID-19 Ambassador Program will be made up of community volunteers who can talk to friends and neighbors who have concerns about the vaccine, and the program will also promote the importance of testing for the virus.

Deputy County Manager Tim Kaufman said the program is based on the federal Community Corps program.   It’s designed to combat misinformation in the community on the virus and the vaccine.

Volunteers can get relevant training on COVID-19, along with public speaking experience.   County residents can volunteer by going to the web site SCHDAmbassador@sedgwick.gov or by calling 316-660-1022 and leaving a message for the Ambassador Coordinator.

More information is available on the county’s web site at sedgwickcounty.org/covid-19/volunteer-recruitment/
