Police identified 21-year-old Legend Johnson, of Wichita, as the woman killed in a crash at Kellogg and Washington.
The single-vehicle crash was reported around midnight, in eastbound lanes of traffic. Johnson and a man were both thrown from the car. Johnson was rushed to a hospital and passed away soon after.
According to police, a 25-year-old man in the car was trying to get away as officers arrived. He was taken into custody and booked into jail after reportedly spitting on an officer.
Officials say speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in this crash.
This crash had eastbound Kellogg shut down between Seneca and Washington until 7 a.m., as crews worked to gather evidence and remove debris from the road.
