Star Spangled Salute: A Marine Who Created “Crayons Ready To Eat”

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Marine Corps Veteran Frank Manteau.  Marines have been called many derogatory things ….Jarheads, Bullet Sponges and one of the latest is Crayon Eaters.  It was the latter that inspired Frank one day when he was doing a wood working project for his daughter’s color guard. At one point during the project he put a crayon in his mouth and the moment wasn’t lost on him, but he began wondering could he create a crayon you could eat. So, he began the research with a friend of his, Army Veteran Cassandra Gordon and the result was a triangle shaped crayon that was firm enough to color with and soft enough to eat called “Crayons Ready To Eat”. They come in MRE pouches with color/flavors like Jarhead Red, Squid Blue, Dogface Green, Flyboy Yellow and Puddle Pirate Orange. He soon will launch Space Cadet White to acknowledge the Space Force.  Congratulations on your invention Frank and Cassandra and THANK YOU for your service.
