Today, the AWESOME is in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche. Gabriel Landeskog is no stranger to being a pro athlete and all that comes with that: the fortune, the fame, the pressure, and the risk of physical injury. During the 2021-22 NHL season, the Avalanche’s star winger sustained a severe injury. It kept him off the ice for 1,032 days. His future with the team and the sport was in question. Last week, he returned to the team and the ice during game 3 of their first-round series against Dallas. The Avalanche captain received a hero’s welcome from the Colorado crowd during his Wednesday return, including an incredibly sweet sign in the crowd held by his two children. At that point, we can only imagine that the thousands of other fans melted away into the background because the two fans that mattered most held a sign that read, “So proud of you, Daddy! Go Avs Go!…and THAT’S AWESOME.
