We are going halfway around the world to India for the AWESOME today. Three high school students just did something pretty amazing and pretty important, when it comes to sustainability and reducing the demand humans put on natural resources. They invented a revolutionary salt-powered refrigerator called the Thermavault. The device requires no electricity and has the potential to transform life in communities without reliable access to power. Their invention just earned them the prestigious 2025 Earth Prize and a $12,500 award, which the trio plans to use to build 200 units and distribute them to 120 hospitals for real-world testing. Simply put, think about when you use salt in the old-fashioned ice cream maker to make the ice colder. It’s kind of like that. Amazing kids doing amazing things for the planet, THAT’S AWESOME.
