Today, we salute Newton graduate, Air Force 2nd Lieutenant, and NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion Wyatt Hendrickson. Oklahoma State’s Wyatt Hendrickson produced what commentators dubbed the “biggest upset in NCAA history” as he stunned Olympic champion Gable Steveson to win the national title for heavyweight wrestling last weekend. Before the match, he came out, draped in the American flag, and after the historic win, he saluted President Trump, who was in attendance. He also shook hands and shared a quick hug with the President. A moment, I’m sure he’ll not soon forget. Congratulations, Wyatt; thank you for making your state and your country proud, and THANK YOU for your service.
