The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after skeletal remains were found inside a burned car near Hays on Friday.
Deputies were called to a location at the 1900 block of Mount Pleasant Road, about six miles southeast of Hays. They found a burned car in a ditch with skeletal remains inside.
It’s believed the car went into the ditch and got stuck during Wednesday’s blizzard conditions. Investigators are working to identify the remains. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
