A Wichita woman has been charged with aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer in connection with an incident where a Sedgwick County deputy was dragged by a vehicle during a traffic stop.

A hearing was held Tuesday for 22-year-old Nevaeh Thompson, and her bond was set at $100,000.  Her next court appearance was scheduled for March 27th.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said if Thompson is found guilty, depending on her criminal record, she could be sentenced from 55 months to 247 months in prison.

The Sheriff’s Office said a car was stopped around 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 2nd near Lincoln and Rock Road, and the deputy talked with the driver, identified as Thompson.  The driver told the deputy that she may have warrants for her arrest, and before being taken into custody, she got back in her car and tried to get away.  The deputy followed her into the vehicle but she shifted the car into drive and dragged the deputy for a brief time.  The deputy had minor injuries.

Thompson’s vehicle was later found abandoned in the 7300 block of East Indianapolis.  She was found and arrested several days later.
