UPDATE:  Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for second degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing.

Police found 51-year-old Brian Edwards in the street with stab wounds in a southeast Wichita neighborhood Monday evening, and he died later at a hospital.

The stabbing was reported around 7:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of East Whitney Lane, in a neighborhood near Pawnee and George Washington Boulevard.

Officers identified a suspect and took him into custody and he was booked into the Sedgwick County jail on a second degree murder charge.  Detectives talked to several people at the scene and it’s believed that all parties involved are known to each other.

This is Wichita’s third criminal homicide of 2025.
