Today, the AWESOME comes from North Branch, Minnesota. Veteran Jerry Parkin was a regular at his local Burger King. The employees considered him family; he would walk in every day, and every day, they would have his order ready. On his 90th birthday, the staff threw him a birthday party. On his last days, he wanted his last meal to come from his favorite restaurant. Jerry recently died at the age of 91 and at the funeral, Burger King employees showed up with a chair. Not just any chair, it was Jerry’s chair, the one he sat in every day and it was engraved with his name and the dates of his life well lived. The chair now sits in the restaurant, in the place where Jerry always sat, so employees, friends and family have a place to feel close to him. A simple act for someone special, THAT’S AWESOME.
