A Wichita man has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of his one-year-old daughter.
A court appearance was held Tuesday for 25-year-old Michael Tejeda on the murder charge plus two counts of aggravated endangering a child and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $500,000.
Police were called to a home last Friday evening, February 28th, in the 2200 block of South Santa Fe. They found a child with a gunshot wound to her upper body, and she died later at a hospital. Another child who was in the home at the time of the shooting was placed in police protective custody. The mother was questioned and later released.
