Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a 22-year-old woman who sped away from a traffic stop early Sunday, dragging a deputy for a short distance.

The Sheriff’s Office said a car was stopped around 3 a.m. near Lincoln and Rock Road, and the deputy talked with the driver, identified as Nevaeh Ann Thompson.  She told the deputy that she may have warrants for her arrest, and before being taken into custody, she got back in her car and tried to get away.  The deputy followed her into the vehicle but she shifted the car into drive and dragged the deputy for a brief time.  The deputy had minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Thompson’s vehicle was later found abandoned in the 7300 block of Eeast Indianapolis. Surveillance footage from a nearby home showed Thompson running from the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the pubic in finding Thompson. She is described as a 22-year-old white female with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing around 140 pounds.

Anyone with information on Thompson’s whereabouts should call 911. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (316) 268-2111.
