Amazon will be delivering jobs to the Salina area. The retail giant has announced the purchase of land from the Salina Airport Authority to build a distribution facility.
The plan is to build a 90,000 square-foot last-mile distribution facility within the next year on a 20-acre site at 1850 West Water Well Road, southwest of Salina. The facility will have at least 100 new jobs and it will be a component of Amazon’s regional logistics network. Packages are transported to delivery stations from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers and then employees process customer packages for last-mile delivery, helping to speed up delivery for customers in more rural communities.
The Salina Airport Authority said this is part of an 80-acre industrial subdivision, and work is underway to provide infrastructure that includes roads and utility services.
