Today, it’s off to Denver, Colorado, for THE AWESOME. Denver firefighters, in partnership with local organizations and Denver Public Schools, collected and distributed 1,000 brand-new winter coats to students to make sure they are warm and safe in the cold and to bring happiness to their hearts and smiles to their faces. Michael Knect, who used to live in Alaska, understands the importance of staying warm and took on a personal mission to make sure no child is out in the cold without a jacket. His efforts this year are twice what they were last year as the program continues to grow. The excitement didn’t stop with just the coats—after picking out their cozy new jackets, the kids were treated to an up-close look at the firefighters’ trucks. With wide eyes and big smiles, they explored the fire engines and met the heroes who keep their community safe. Safety, warmth, and generosity, Michael, THAT’S AWESOME.
