Today, we salute Veteran Marina Perez. Marina has never let age define her, which might explain her success at the National Veteran’s Golden Age Games. It all started at the age of 33 when she competed in the New York City Marathon, completing the run in just over five hours. From there, she continued to push herself and test her limits. She joined the Army at the age of 35, and 25 years of service later, she retired as a sergeant first class. Her service included deployments to the Gulf War and Bosnia, where she served with distinction and received the prestigious Bronze Star Medal. At the age of 60, she started working at the West Palm Beach VA and was introduced to the National Veterans Golden Age Games. Now, at the age of 79, she has won a record 65 medals.
