A Wichita man has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for leaving his baby daughter in the I-135 canal last year.
A judge sentenced 35-year-old Vincent Perez to 54 months after a guilty plea in December to aggravated endangerment of a child and aggravated battery.
On July 23rd, 2024, a passerby reported seeing a child in the I-135 canal near Pawnee. Police and fire rescue crews went to the scene and found an 11-month-old girl, who was taken to a hospital for treatment. Perez was found and arrested by police the next day.
