Two teens are dead after a shooting at a Nashville high school Wednesday morning.
Police said a 17-year-old male student shot and killed a 16-year-old girl after confronting her in the cafeteria of Antioch High School. The suspect also shot and wounded a 17-year-old boy, before killing himself. The boy suffered a graze wound to the arm and has been released from the hospital.
Metro police said they are not immediately finding a previous connection between the shooter and the victims. Solomon Henderson walked into the school cafeteria, fatally shot 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante, and grazed a male student before shooting and killing himself, according to authorities.
At this point, detectives don’t know of a reason that Henderson would have targeted Escalante, saying she “may have been struck by his random gunfire.” MNPD officials have said they are looking into some “very concerning online writings” that may have been posted by Henderson. Those documents reportedly reference antisemitic and self-loathing racial material.
