A new winter storm is moving into Kansas bringing snow to the Wichita area for Thursday afternoon into Friday.
The storm is not expected to be as potent as the system that brought ice and snow to the area last weekend. The strongest part of the storm will sweep through Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.
KFDI’s weather partners at KWCH Storm Team 12 say south central Kansas could see two to four inches of snow, while southwestern and southeastern areas of the state will see one to two inches. Western and northern areas of Kansas will see a trace to an inch. The storm is expected to have only snow, with no mixed precipitation.
Wichita Mayor Lily Wu said the city’s Public Works crews have been preparing to work on the major routes again with this latest storm. She said crews have been working non-stop to make the streets as safe as possible since the storm last weekend. She is calling on drivers to use care when they get out on the streets during this latest storm.
