Today, we salute two World War II Veterans, Joe Burgess and John Debiak. Living to 108 and 97 is impressive enough. When you do it as a Veteran of World War II, that’s something special. These two members of the “Greatest Generation” were honored this week by Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen and the Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs when they were both presented with a World War II recognition medal and certificate for their service. John said, “Something was mentioned here about the ‘Greatest Generation,’ and I think we were. I think maybe it’s time for a new generation to be a great generation again, and I think it’s going to come to pass.” Maybe so, but for now, it’s you. Congratulations to you both for your recognition, and THANK YOU both for your service.
