The Kansas Highway Patrol said two drivers were killed when their pickups collided head-on Tuesday afternoon in Kiowa County.
Troopers said a pickup was traveling west on U.S. Highway 54 when it went left of center around 2:45 p.m. The driver of an eastbound pickup tried to avoid the crash but the trucks collided head-on. The KHP said both pickups caught fire.
The driver of the first pickup was identified as 83-year-old Donald Knier of Hugoton, and the second driver was identified as 17-year-old Tabitha Ward of Stratford.
