An Indiana man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for striking a Kansas family with his car on a street in Louisville, Kentucky in 2022.
The sentence was handed down Friday for 35-year-old Michael Hurley, who was convicted by a jury in October. Police said he was high on fentanyl when he drove his car over the curb on a downtown Louisville street and hit a family from Nickerson, Kansas.
The crash in July, 2022 killed Trey Jones and severely injured his wife and son and daughter Ava, a Nickerson High School basketball star. The family was in Louisville for a basketball tournament.
Hurley, of Scott County, Indiana, was found guilty of murder, driving under the influence and three counts of assault.
