The Wichita Police Department says a new task force has recovered more than $2 million in stolen property, with nearly 150 arrests.

The Property Crimes Reduction Task Force was created in October to combat shoplifting, car burglaries and other property crimes.   Police released photos of recovered property and said the department is committed to keep the task force in operation.

Police Chief Joe Sullivan said the task force was able to pool manpower from the Sedgwick County and Butler County Sheriff’s offices and the Kansas Highway Patrol.  He said stolen property was found from a number of crimes committed outside the city of Wichita and even outside Kansas.

Sullivan said the public can help with the effort by watching for suspicious activity and reporting crimes in progress to 911 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
