Today, we salute Naval Airman Nolan Cupp of Wichita. Nolan enlisted for many reasons. First and foremost, he said he enlisted to learn new skills and become a better person, and that he did. He also had help along the way. Nolan said, “Petty Officer Dawkins never gave up on me. Whenever I messed something up, he was always there to work with me and help me improve. He held me to a higher standard because he knew what I was capable of. Just last week, Nolan graduated as the top Sailor from Recruit Training Command, earning the Military Excellence Award (MEA). He said, “I promised my family and loved ones that while I was gone, I would do everything I could to make them proud. Winning the award meant I didn’t break my promise to them”. Trust me, they are proud of you, and we are too. Thank you for making Wichita and Kansas proud, Nolan, and THANK YOU for your service.
