A Wichita man has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison for the shooting death of a semi-pro football player in 2017.
A judge sentenced 25-year-old Larry Triplett III, who pleaded guilty in October to second degree murder and other counts. Triplett was convicted in the July, 2017 shooting death of 19-year-old Timothy Golden, a player for the Wichita-based Kansas Cougars football team. Police said the shooting happened during a disturbance at an apartment in the 500 block of South Laclede.
Another defendant, Ritchie Randle, Jr., was convicted in 2018 of first degree murder and other charges in the case, and he was given a life sentence.
