Today, the AWESOME is in Boston. Little 8-year-old Emerson Bayse is in a pickle. She is waiting for a heart transplant at Boston Children’s Hospital. While waiting for her heart, her parents are praising the hospital for a special part of Emerson’s care. Typically, cardiac patients have a strong craving for salty foods, and Emerson has always liked pickles but never really knew how they were made. That’s when the hospital introduced Emerson to Chef Sarah Bryce, who came to the hospital and taught Emerson how to make different kinds of pickles. Then they served their creations at a pickle party for some of the hospital staff. A chef with a big heart is helping a heart transplant patient, THAT’S AWESOME.
