Wichita State University has confirmed that a man arrested for an alleged rape incident is a student and graduate assistant.
The suspect, 29-year-old Mohamed Barkat Mia, was arrested at WSU’s McKinley Hall and booked into the Sedgwick County jail for an incident that is alleged to have occurred on November 4th. He has now been charged with rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, and attempted aggravated criminal sodomy. His bond was set at $200,000.
The university said there is no threat to the campus. The incident is being investigated by university police but no other information has been released.
