The Kansas Turnpike Authority is warning consumers about a new text scam that is mimicking the DriveKS site in an effort to steal personal information.
The KTA released images of the false text on social media, calling it the latest smishing scam involving the Turnpike and other toll roads across the country.
The agency said it never will send unsolicited texts. For KTA, the main website is www.DriveKS.com and any variation of this main website is fraudulent. Consumers are urged to avoid clicking on or using an inaccurate website.
KTA is working to get this site taken down. In the meantime, anyone who gets such a text is urged to report to the FBI at www.ic3.gov
