Police have identified the five men who were killed in a south Wichita shooting incident that was determined to be a murder-suicide.

Police Captain Aaron Moses said in a press release that two people reported finding a man with gunshot wounds Sunday afternoon in the 1700 block of South Santa Fe.  Officers found 67-year-old Anthony Stickney inside a home, and he was pronounced dead.

Officers learned that the last person at the home was likely Anthony’s son, 42-year-old Joshua Stickney, who lived at a home in the 1900 block of South Laura.   Officers went to that home and saw two people inside who were not moving and not responding when officers knocked on the door.   The officers forced entry and found three men inside, dead from gunshot wounds.   They were identified as Joshua Stickney, 66-year-old Donald Dodge, a neighbor of Joshua, and 55-year-old Terry Meyer, Joshua’s live-in stepfather.  Officers found a gun at Joshua’s feet and his injury appeared to be self-inflicted.   The three men were pronounced dead at the scene.

While attempting to find someone to care for Joshua’s pet, officers were instructed to contact a neighbor at another residence on Laura. That neighbor was 39-year-old Alan Young. Officers went to Alan’s residence and saw him inside, unresponsive. Officers forced entry into the home and found Alan with gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead.

Moses said preliminary ballistic examination has provided a presumptive conclusion that the firearm located near Joshua is the one used in all the shootings.  Investigators are continuing to conduct interviews, process scene evidence, and process digital evidence to better understand what led to the shootings.   Police said this does not appear to be a random act of violence; no suspects are outstanding, and there is no information that the general public is in danger.
