The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says remains found in rural Barber County have been identified as those of a Harper man who had been missing since August.
A wrecked pickup belonging to 73-year-old David Reese man was found in rural Barber County on Sunday in a creek bed near Little Mule and the Hardtner Shortcut, close to the Oklahoma border. The remains were found nearby and the KBI said a positive identification was made.
Officials had been looking for Reese since August 2nd. Friends reported that he went for a drive in the country with his dog, but he never returned. His dog was found in a rural area near Hardtner in October.
The KBI said due to heavy vegetation, visibility into the creek bed was limited until now.
