Sedgwick County deputies are investigating after a man’s body was found in a pickup Wednesday in an area west of Derby.
The body was discovered shortly before 4 p.m. at the Arkansas River Canoe Launch at 3520 East 71st Street South. The pickup was found in a heavily wooded area.
The man was identified as 54-year-old Shane Watts, a resident of the Wichita area, and his body was taken to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center for an autopsy. The Sheriff’s Office said there were no preliminary indications of trauma.
