Shots were fired at a home in north Wichita late Wednesday night, killing one person and injuring another.
Police said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Mascot, which is northwest of the intersection of 21st Street North and Arkansas. A woman identified as 48-year-old Deanna Garcia had very critical injuries and she later died at a hospital. A 49-year-old man from the home was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg, and he was released late Thursday.
