Newton police were warning residents late Tuesday afternoon to avoid an area on the city’s north side because of an investigation.
Police were in the area of 12th and Kansas, and they were warning on social media that residents would hear a loud “boom” around 5:30 p.m. They said there is no danger to the public and more information will be released later.
