HumanKind Ministries launches Operation Holiday

HumanKind Ministries has started its annual Operation Holiday program to provide basic needs for thousands of low-income individuals and families.

The program has provided assistance for the past 60 years, distributing food, blankets, children’s coats, pet food and other needs.  Applications are open to anyone in Sedgwick County who meets the eligibility criteria and needs help in getting through the holiday season.   Applications are being accepted through November 30th, and applications can be made online at OperationHoliday.org or by phone at 316-777-6097 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.   There are also several in-person application sites, including the HumanKind Ministries office at 829 North Market and the Evergreen Community Center at 2601 North Arkansas.

Public distribution will be conducted in a drive-through format from Friday, December 13th through Monday, December 16th.   That will take place at the former Love Box factory at 3600 North Santa Fe.   People will choose a time slot for pickup when they apply for assistance.

Businesses and organizations that want to host collection drives for Operation Holiday can pick up materials from the HumanKind office.  Children’s coats and blankets are the greatest need.  Donations can be made at the HumanKind office or the Operation Holiday Warehouse at 7700 East Kellogg Drive.
