Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita has announced a plan to furlough 700 workers for a 21-day period, starting later this month.
The furloughs will begin October 28th, and they will affect workers on Boeing’s 767 and 777 projects. Company officials said the strike at Boeing has created a backlog of planes and there is no room to store new planes.
Boeing announced a tentative agreement Saturday to end the strike, and there was no late word on how this would affect Spirit’s plans for furloughs.
