The Wichita City Council unanimously approved yesterday a request by the Wichita Police Department for funding to purchase several more gunshot detection devices and expand the FLOCK license plate reader system. The gunshot detectors will be placed in areas of the city that show increased firearm activity. The WPD says the FLOCK system has helped police recover at least $5.4 million in stolen property and the gunshot detectors have helped solve violent crimes.
