Police have identified the teenager who died after being shot by his mother at a southeast Wichita apartment complex. Officers found 16-year-old Robert Florence with a gunshot wound to the head, and he died later at a hospital.
The shooting happened shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 9100 block of East Harry. Police arrested the teen’s 46-year-old mother, and they’re working to amend the charges against her to second degree murder. Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
Police said investigators learned of a previous incident from March where the woman had threatened her ex-husband and his current girlfriend with a gun.
