An Afghanistan citizen living in Oklahoma City has been arrested and charged with planning to conduct an Election Day terrorist attack in support of ISIS.
A criminal complaint alleges the man took steps to liquidate his family’s assets, resettle members of his family overseas, acquire AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition and commit the terrorist attack.
In an interview after the arrest, the Justice Department says the man confirmed that the attack was planned for Election Day targeting large gatherings of people, during which he and his juvenile accomplice were expected to die as martyrs. The juvenile was also arrested.
