Today, we salute Wichita Veteran Phillip Owens. Phillp’s family served, and he knew he wanted to serve. The events of 9/11 provided the catalyst to do so. He left his job at Cessna and signed up. Private First Class Owens drove a truck through Iraq, from Kuwait to the Turkish border, carrying valuable and needed supplies. On his second deployment, that assignment was a lot more intense, several times coming under attack. After his several deployments, Phillip came home with PTSD. Thankfully, he found Midwest Battle Buddies, and today, he and his wife are traveling together with his service dog as he drives a truck. Thank you for making us Kansas proud, Phillip, and THANK YOU for your service.
