A woman who operated a Wichita day care facility has been charged with child abuse.

Two counts of abuse of a child were filed against 29-year-old Ija Hall was charged after a child living in her home was found with second-degree burns on September 5th, and two other children were found with bruises and scratches on September 6th.  Authorities said Hall admitted to smacking one of the children and making a child sit in a hot bath.   Hall was free on a bond of $25,000 and her next court appearance was scheduled for October 7th.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment had earlier issued an emergency license suspension for His Loving Hands Home Childcare.

KDHE said in the order that the licensee of the facility has one child and two foster children, and one of the foster children was taken to a hospital around September 5th with superficial second degree burns to the legs, feet and other parts of the body.   Law enforcement agencies were given inconsistent statements on the cause of the injuries, and that led police to take the other two children into protective custody.   One child was found to have bruises and another had scratches.
