Machinists Union leaders said mediators have been contacted and contract talks with Textron could potentially resume next week, as workers continue their strike against the aviation company.
About 5,000 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local 774 were on the picket lines Tuesday for the second day of a strike against Textron. In a vote last weekend, 81 percent of the workers rejected the company’s contract offer and voted to begin a strike. The issues are wages, health care, job security and retirement security.
In a press release, IAM officials said negotiations have been going on with Textron for months and both sides remain in contact.
