A flight destined for San Diego International Airport made an emergency landing in Kansas Saturday after an indicator light showed smoke in the cargo bay. Some passengers also said they heard a loud bang just before the pilot’s announcement of the unscheduled landing.
JetBlue flight 1189 left New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport Saturday late afternoon and made that landing at Salina Regional Airport around 6:30 p.m. While that flight was descending, some passengers reported a mist coming through air vents. All 130 passengers and crew were safely offloaded and rebooked on another flight. Jet Blue posted to X the indicator light was a false indication. The FAA will now investigate.
