The Kansas State Fair opens Friday for ten days of shows, events and activities on the State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.
The pig races are back this year, and they will take place near the Hedrick’s Petting Zoo. The schedule also includes livestock shows, 4-H and FFA exhibits, a midway with carnival rides, and various contests, educational activities and demonstrations.
One of the new features on the Fairgrounds this year is the 1861 Club, which is a climate-controlled food, beverage and entertainment venue.
The Grandstand concerts begin with Wynonna Judd and Kimberly Perry on Friday, September 6th, the Goo Goo Dolls on Saturday, September 7th and La Alianza Nortena on Sunday, September 8th.
This weekend is the 25th anniversary of the Youth Livestock Show, The Grand Drive. Showmanship of Goats, Swine, Sheep, and Beef takes place on Friday, Sept. 6. Market shows will be Saturday, Sept. 7 and the Breeding shows will run Sunday, Sept. 8.
The State Fair runs through Sunday, September 15th.
