Police and animal control crews were looking for an elk that was wandering in northeast Wichita early Monday.
The elk was seen near 21st and Greenwich and in the Willowbend neighborhood, and westbound traffic was slowed down on K-96 near Webb Road shortly before 8 a.m. as officials tried to capture the animal.
Officials gave up the search after the elk ran into a field.
