A Lawrence man who failed to show up for a sentencing in a Wichita homicide case has been arrested.
Wichita police said 64-year-old Kevin Harris was arrested Thursday night in Topeka. He was booked into the Shawnee County jail and he will be brought back to Sedgwick County.
Prosecutors said Harris was to be sentenced August 14th after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, but he cut off his ankle monitor and disappeared.
Harris was one of two suspects in the murder of 51-year-old Jose Lumbreras of Wichita in August, 2023 near 13th and Broadway. Harris left Wichita after the murder and he was later found at an apartment in Lawrence. He was arrested after a 16-hour standoff with Lawrence police.
