Vice President Kamala Harris has officially accepted her party’s nomination for President.
In her acceptance speech Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention, Harris touched on a wide variety of topics, including the war between Israel and Hamas. She voiced support for both Israel and the Palestinian people, saying she will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself. Harris added that she and President Biden are working to make sure the suffering in Gaza ends, and that the Palestinians can “realize their right to dignity, security, freedom and self-determination.”
Harris said she was formally accepting the nomination for what she said was “on behalf of the people.” Noting her background as a district attorney and attorney general, Harris said she was used to being underestimated, but that the “future is always worth fighting for.”She ended her speech by urging everyone to vote and “write the next great chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told.”
