All Americans’ Social Security information could be compromised. Reports say hackers stole data from National Public Data, based in Florida, and tried to sell it, but then posted it online for free.
The group claims to have nearly three-billion records of personal data from North America and the UK.
Experts say the best course of action is to freeze your credit files to prevent other from signing up for credit cards or other accounts in your name.
National Public Data conducts background checks. The company has not confirmed a data breach but says it is investigating.
