When I first got into country radio in the early 90’s, one of the very first artists I was blown away by was Martina McBride. She opened for Garth Brooks in Providence, Rhode Island and stole the show (sorry Garth). She was amazing. I find it almost cosmically meant to be, that I found my way to Kansas, which is where I have been for 10 1/2 years. At the radio station that Martina McBride and so many of you and your generations grew up on.
That’s what makes what she wrote about Alabama and KFDI and her full circle moment so special.
What a full circle moment for me today to have Martina shared this story about the KFDI Listener Appreciation Show. That annual event was something thousands looked forward to every year. Sadly, like so many things, Covid put an end to it. But not before I had a chance to experience a few and take my place on stage in front of you and introduce the acts and have fun and give away prizes.
