Barton County officials said a Wichita teenager was electrocuted during an accident Tuesday at the Great Bend Municipal Airport.
Deputies said a roofing company was working on the main terminal building early Tuesday morning, and two men were in a bucket on an aerial boom when they came in contact with high-voltage power lines. One of the men was able to get onto the roof and then he made it to the ground. The other person was in the bucket and found to be unresponsive.
Power was shut off and crews were able to get to the person in the bucket.
The man who got to the roof, 24-year-old Allistar Jose Sanchez of Wichita, received serious burns and he was later transported by aircraft to a Wichita hospital. The second victim, identified as 16-year-old Ivan Joel Mollins of Wichita was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
