An unidentified man was killed late Wednesday night in an officer involved shooting in east Wichita.
Police said a vehicle had been stopped for traffic violations around 11:20 p.m., and it ended up in a parking lot near Central and Hillside. A struggle broke out as officers tried to arrest a man in the back seat, and the man reached for a gun. The gun went off and officers then fired at the man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another person in the car was being questioned and investigators are still looking into the circumstances. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will investigate.
