There was a heavy police presence in a south Wichita neighborhood Thursday morning as officers were negotiating with a man who was having a mental health crisis.
Officers were called to the 2400 block of South Oak Street, near Pawnee and McLean, around 3:15 a.m. A 48-year-old man ran from the officers and climbed up on the roof of a home, refusing to come down.
Police negotiators were talking with the man through the morning hours and there was no danger to the neighborhood. The man was finally taken into custody shortly before 11 a.m.
